Mariel Cruz is a professional Electrical Engineer with 19 years of experience in Puerto Rico’s electric utility industry, spanning PREPA and LUMA Energy. Her career has included Hurricane Maria recovery efforts, the transition to LUMA Energy, and the implementation of major infrastructure modernization and distribution reliability improvement projects. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives in grid modernization, smart technologies, outage management systems, asset management, and reliability improvement. As Director of Asset Management at LUMA Energy, she focuses on strengthening grid resilience, advancing risk-based investment prioritization, and developing data-driven maintenance strategies to support a more reliable and sustainable electric system for Puerto Rico.
